In beautiful Port Carling in Muskoka, Sarah had a laid-back water front wedding. This event was full of joyful friends BBQ-ing all afternoon, drinking and laughing. I got the small bridal party ready in this gorgeous lodge overlooking the lake.
Sarah was adamant on looking effortlessly natural for her wedding day. It was important she did not look like she have makeup on, only that the makeup brighten her eyes and skin, and that her hair be up, yet appear ever-so-slightly undone, often called a "romantic up do." (This is also a wedding I provided hair styling for, as there were only 3 ladies needing services.)
For her sister and mother I recreated the look I did for Sarah, but punched up the eyes with black eyeliner, as that's what they do on a daily basis. I find this is one of those makeup routines that is hard to omit if you are used to it, and so instead of making them feel "naked" (their words, haha), I incorporated the liner into their makeup looks. I think it's important to listen to your clients, and not to be afraid to ask what they prefer. At the end of the day, even if I originally wasn't going to add liner in the waterline, if this makes them feel beautiful then it had to be done! Plus, it worked great with their dark blue dresses. For the hair, her sister wanted it simple and pulled back, but it was important to incorporate a braid. While for the mother, she wanted it down with soft curls. Again, it's important to have an artist that will make the client happy!
